I had a migraine almost 2 weeks ago, but have been having headaches almost every day since?

im 12 weeks pregnant and i had a migraine just under 2 weeks ago. I had been having frequent headaches before the migraine, maybe 3 a week. But after the migraine i have been having them 6 out of 7 days a week. I went to the dr and he has referred me to a neurologist for a brain scan, but i dont know how long it will take for the referral to go through. Could these headaches be related to the migraine?

They may be. It's unfortunately possible to have cluster migraines just as you can have cluster tension headaches. Cluster headaches keep coming one after the other, day after day. It's unfair, but worrying about getting another one can help set you up because it gets you more tense. I would imagine you would be bumped to the top of the list because you are pregnant.
In the meantime, try getting some of the migraine cold strips for your forehead because it can give you some relief without any possible harm to the baby. An icepack at the base of your neck in back also helps. Use these along with music you love that's soothing or a relaxation tape in a darkened room with a spritz of your favorite perfume if smells don't bother you and try to picture yourself just peacefully floating.

It's not unusual to get tension headaches when you're pregnant, especially in the first trimester. Tension headaches 鈥?the most common kind of headache 鈥?can feel like a squeezing pain or a steady dull ache on both sides of the head or the back of the neck. If you've always been susceptible to tension headaches, pregnancy can make the problem worse.

Migraines are another common type of headache. Experts estimate that about one in five women has a migraine headache at some time in her life, and about 15 percent of migraine sufferers get migraines for the first time when they're pregnant (most often in the first trimester).

Migraine headaches cause moderate to severe throbbing pain, typically on one side of the head. They last from four to 72 hours (if untreated) and are aggravated by physical activity. They are also accompanied by other symptoms, such as nausea, vomiting, or sensitivity to light and noise.

Some migraine sufferers have what are known as migraines with aura 鈥?that is, headaches that are preceded by symptoms that may include visual changes (such as bright flashing lights or blind spots), sensations of numbness or "pins and needles," weakness, and speech disturbances. These symptoms may start as long as an hour before a migraine and may last up to an hour.

Have you started chewing more gum, drinking diet soda or eating diet foods? It could be a reaction to aspartame or sucralose (also called "splenda"). I know it sounds strange, but those two food additives are complained about more than most to the FDA, and headaches are number ONE on the list of complaints. I know I always get a headache if I have any, even just a tiny sip of diet soda.
They are in foods like diet foods, nearly every gum, and are hidden in a LOT of foods, too (foods that aren't marked as 'diet'). Try reading ingredients and avoid the following - aspartame, aspar-tame, aspartic acid, sucralose (not sucrose, sucrose is okay), splenda, neotame, saccharin and sweet-n-low. If the headaches go away, you'll know it was because of the artificial sweeteners!
Also, I recommend the book "Sweet Deception" by Joseph Mercola, which details what artificial sweeteners do, how to avoid them and how the FDA knew they were poisonous, but approved them anyway, to make a profit.

It could be allergies or you could need to go to a chiropractor. I know if my neck is out of whack, I'll have major headaches.. Allergies will also give me some headaches. Being pregnant, please check with your OBGYN about both of these suggestions before doing anything!

It could be related to hormonal changes due to your pregnancy. I had bad migraines in the years before menopause due to hormonal changes. The dr tested me but said my hormones were within normal range, but after menopause the migraines stopped all together. So much for drs.

you need to get it checked out. I know of people who had a cerebral hemorrhage due to a burst aneurysm in their brain. The only thing they complained about was a migraine. They died
