My 24 year year daughter is having major migraines and they have checked her for gluten allergies etc.? |
She has been getting them alot recently and the dr. prescribed a few differnt drugs to take it away onset.....but none of them work. Anyone that deals with this have any suggestions?? Poor thing! I was 23 when I got my first migraine and I'm happy to say that I've only had 2 since. I hope it's the same way for her. Has this doctor performed an MRI or a CT scan? Not to alarm you, but there could be something more serious going on that is causing the migraines. If you're not 110% pleased with your dr and you don't feel like he's giving you answers, I would suggest getting a second opinion. Good luck! I have gone through that and what you have to do is to take your daughter to a neurologist I take a prophylactic....a blood pressure pill inderall is the brand name it has a generic that is cheap, as long as I take it I am fine, If I forget it I am in big trouble.I have occular migraines that maks me really almost blind and the pain is bad too. Get a Dr. to prescribe it for her.Hope it works. Avoid chocolate, almonds and foods with lots of colorants. Try to minimize her TV/computer hours, and if you can help her to avoid stress in any way itll help a lot. Shell also learn to detect Migraines before they get real hard, then she might want to take Tylenol or Advil to try to stop them. Father and brother suffered from intense migraines. sounds like stress. when's the last time you had a heart to heart with her. perhaps there's something she's not telling you. My suggestions are for your daughter to see a specialist. A neurologist or a headache clinic are places to look for help. Cold packs on the head and neck always help ease the pain, laying in cool and dark places are very good too. Have your daughter keep a log of all the food and activities she eats every day and see if you can find a pattern. Sometimes food is the cause of a migraine, sometimes its activity or weather. A diary will help in determinig these factors. Go to your local library and look up books on migraines (avoid homeopathy and "natural" cure books). Find a neurologist or headache specialist ASAP. |
