Are there any women out there who started to get severe migraines and bipolar episodes after their late 30s? |
I'm trying to gauge how common my wife's problem is? She has very bad complex migraines (slurred speech, dizziness, nautiousness), and wicked emotional swings. She had a baby in her late 30s. Though she always had migraines, this phenomona seems new and very profound. Though I'm completely speculating, its as if her body isn't producing enough hormones, or something causing severe chemical imbalances? Can anyone who has seen this same type of thing comment on it? As a teenager I had many bad headaches, but I got my first migraines at age 30. I had seven migraines in 11 days. I didn't have any more for another 13 years. I now get about one a year. I saw a neurologist, but he couldn't find anything wrong. It seems that the migraines are affecting your wife in new and serious ways. It would be worth your time to find a specialist in treating migraines. There are headache clinics around the country too. You might do a search on headache clinics on Google and see if there is one near you. Or you could get a referral to a specialist from your regular physician if you trust his/her judgment. Good luck. http://www.neurologyreviews.com/feb04/nr... |
