My mother has multiple sclerosis. what should i expect with this disease?

she was diagnosed about 3 years ago. she has attacks ever so often. my step-father is not supportive at all. i worry about her alot, and wonder what to expect as she gets older. thank you so much for your advise!!

hello,
I am a 49yr old F ..I have had MS for many years..I work full time and am active with my grandsons. MS isn't always easy , but it is a very treatable disease..there are lots of disease modifying drugs that are helping slow the progression and more coming every year. Most symptoms can be helped, some by medications and some with slight changes in diet or lifestyle
There is no reason your Mom shouldn't lead a pretty normal life..she may have to learn her limitations and may have to find ways to modify her lifestyle, but less than 25% of people with MS become wheelchair bound.
I would suggest keeping active, exercising(yoga is my favorite).watching her weight and eating a good balanced diet..No smoking and limit drinking

lot of support and help from your side ,she could become legally handicapped and wheel chaired
