If you experience kaleidoscope vision in one eye, is it a symptom of multiple sclerosis?

A very good 32 year old friend has had the symptoms for a week- went to a retna specialist and was told she has a 80% chance of M.S. I am in total shock. She is waiting for results from an MRI, and is going out of her mind while waiting.

optic neuritis is one important thing related to ms ,u suddenly get low vision in one eye ,high percentage of ms patients present with optic neuritis

I am not sure exactly what you mean about about kaleidoscope vision, but have a general idea.

Early symptoms of MS are frequently visual, i.e. optic neuritis, which doesn't always mean MS. There are other causes.
I had optic neuritis in the late 70s and early 80s and was eventually diagnosed with MS in 1983. It was very frightening and shocking. That was 25 years ago and although it hasn't been easy, it hasn't been as bad as I thought it would be.

I have ocassional visual problems, usually when it is very hot. I see a wonderful neuro opthamologist, with additional expertise in MS.

My 85 year old Mother also has MS. She lives alone, drives locally and uses a scooter for long distance walking.

Good luck to your friend. I invite you both to visit my Yahoo Group on MS Resources.

Vision problems are often the symptom that triggers the work up for MS.

I also like the "MS for Dummies" book. When I was diagnosed, MS was the devil I knew what with my mom and aunt having it. But the book was a good reference for my husband. Plus there were tips I hadn't heard of or thought about.
