Do ppl wid multiple sclerosis always end up in a wheel chair ??

what other long term effect r there ???????

btw i dnt ave it

No, in fact most people will MS do not end up in wheel-chairs. It is estimated that after 20 years with the disease, 75% of all MS patients have little to no problems walking. I've read statistics saying that approx. 15% of all MS patients end up in a wheel-chair.

MS is a very individual disease. Symptoms and long term effects depend on a variety of factors, the number of attack, the severity of attacks, the placement of the attacks and how well the nerve cells recover after an attack. There are no hard and fast rules. One patient with MS can have vastly different symptoms from another patient with MS. Many people with MS have little to no symptoms and lead normal lives, others might end up needing full-time help.

One of the symptoms that hit many MS patients is extreme fatigue and a sensitivity to heat, other symptoms can be cognitive problems, sensory disturbances, lack of bladder control, difficulties walking, talking, moving hands and arms, optic neuritis, restless legs, plus a score of other symptoms.

I agree with the other two answers; i add this

If your MS progresses; you can slow the progression of the disease by adding certain vitamins;minerals;herbs;aminos.

Of importance is Thiamin Vitamin B1; by adding this to your daily supplements you can avoid many of the progessive MS.

Thiamine is sold in tablets as Vitamin B1; also add: (plus a healthy diet with salads;etc

Vit. B6; B12; Vitamin C and Sunshine; Anna

A resounding NO to the wheelchair question! MS is a very different disease for each MSer. Most people with MS lead a long and happy life with treatable symptoms. I run a MS support group on Yahoo and if you are interested please join us! We have a lot of great information in our files. My group is MSersLife and the link is below.

Definitely not! I have had MS for 22 years and am still walking. I lead a MS Support Group for my county in Oregon. Most of my members are between 45 and 70 yrs old and only ONE is in a wheelchair (out of 35 members)
Good luck and keep active!!
