Would having multiple sclerosis (MS) prevent my wife from PCSing to Lakenheath with me? |
My wife had an MRI and the doctors think she may have MS. I was wondering if she did would that prevent us from PCSing to RAF Lakenheath? And if not does RAF Lakenheath have neurologists in their hospital? No, not at all. RAF Lakenheath has a BIG hosptial. They can do everything there. My mother has been undergoing treatment for a semi-serious condition. My father received orders to PCS and the doctors told him that they couldn't leave because she would receive better care there than here in the States. So thier orders have been put on hold until the doctors clear her. They are retirees but my father works for the military in a civilian capacity now. generally any time the military does not have the facilities on base to take care of a particular medical need they simply refer to a specialist nearby that can do it. If you want try getting information about the area and local hospitals and see if there are and neurologists near by. If there is then she will receive treatment there if it is not on base. This is covered by your tricare as long as the hospital accepts tricare and i would only hope that a hospital near a military base would be kind enough to accept tricare. Of course it is best to contact tricare also for the most accurate answere and ask them directly if the base in town A has neuroliguists and if not is there a local specialist that accepts tricare? Not sure why that should be an issue. I have been to Lakenheath, nice base I was visiting friends that live near the base. I am from the States, used my Military ID to use the commissary, and the club. I would check with your command to be sure what medical facilities are available and if there would be any problems you should prepare for. If they do not have the neurologists in their hospital, they will send her to a nearby civilian hospital that has the proper doctors. Well they should have neurologists at the hospital. If not they will diffinately tell you what to do, or where you need to go |
