Any chance I have Multiple Sclerosis?

I was diagnosed with a herniated disk, causing significant left leg sciatica. About 6 weeks ago, my neck started hurting more, and now I have pain, in both my arms and right leg, the worst being in my right arm. MRI for neck is negative. I've not noticed any vision problems.

The herniated disk was 6 months ago. Will have surgery in about a month.

This doens't sound like MS. Multiple sclerosis doesn't present itself in the earliest stages as pain; rather it manifests itself in other symptoms such as numbness, tingling, weakness, and vision problems, such as blurring. So for instance, if you woke up one morning and noticed that the entire right side of your body was numb, that might be a sign; or if this happened and came and went sporatically for weeks, months; or if you had spells of double or blurred vision that lasted all day, went away, came back days or weeks later, or you had a sudden spell of temporarily losing your vision in one or both eyes..... things like that. The pain in your neck, arms, legs, and sciatic nerve is probably related to the herniated disk. Pain doesn't usually occur in MS until it's progressed quite a bit to the point that you have muscle spasms.

Don't worry, if you had a doctor worth his/her salt at all, he/she would know with a good degree of certainty whether your symptoms sounded like a neurodegenerative disease (like MS or Lou Gehrig's disease/ALS) and would schedule you for an MRI and spinal tap. If you notice any sudden numbness, tingling, severe weakness in one specific body part, or vision problems, then see your doctor of course.

Good luck.

Why are you thinking MS? MS isn't really associated with pain rather with numbness and weakness.

I suspect you have problems with your herniated disc situation.

I agree with the others. I have both a compressed disk and MS and it sounds more like the disk

What makes you think it is MS?
