Multiple sclerosis in paralympics...? |
In which paralympic sports could an athlete with Multiple sclerosis compete..?? Ryan, that would vary significantly from MS patient to MS patient . There is no such thing as a classic symptom of MS. Multiple sclerosis attacks the nerves so it would all depend on what nerves in a given MS patient are affected at the time the para olympics are being held. Furthermore some people have relapsing remitting multiple sclerosis which means that their symptoms come and go. As an example, there are times when my legs feel as though I have 100 pounds weights on both of them. I actually have to lift my own legs up by my arms to get them into a car. Then after a month or two has gone by, the MS quits attacking my legs and I am fine once again. Some people with MS would be able to participate in every sport, some would not be able to participate in even one, while some people would be able to do a few. |
