In Multiple Sclerosis, which body system, apart from the central nervous system, needs extra support and why?

I'm thinking it's the immune system, but it could also be the digestive system. Any ideas?

Flossy is right the information you get from this site is just for general information, therefore you should always double check anything mentioned here with your own set of references.

So MS I actually did a complex assignment on this disease state just last year. MS is characterised by disseminated (spreading) plaques (inflamed, non-functioning tissue) throughout the CNS.

Depending on the patients current state the disease can manifest into many other issues, such as muscle tone loss, reduced reflex rates etc.
Now to answer your question MS is thought to occur possibly due to an overactive immune system (autoimmune disease) that's why you really do not want to be supporting the immune system, since supporting it further might make the condition worse.

Like I said before depending on which part of the CNS is currently being affected, the manifestations are different and different organs would need support. Since the digestive system is greatly influenced by the CNS any plaque affecting this part of the brain or spinal cord could easily affect the digestive system and hence you may find it beneficial to support the digestive system.

But again in MS any bodily system could be affected.

Hey, Im in no position to answer but i would suggest you go onto an actual MS website rather than ask on here. Im sure there are good, informative sites out there that will give useful and reliable info rather than random people guessing on here for points. In saying this though i have a condition that affects my immune system and i am on many of the same medications that are used to treat MS.....however if it is important you correct factual information i would check another, more reliable, site, hope this has been of some help :)
