Does trainer Kiran McLaughlin have MS (Multiple sclerosis)?

I thought I heard this a while ago, pretty sure it was him or another major trainer - if yes, does anyone know how he is doing with it.

Yes, he does have MS.

He apparently doesn't like to talk about it much, and certainly doesn't want to be defined by it. In interviews I've read where he has spoken about it, he always has given credit to the Maktoums of Dubai, for whom he works, for being supportive of him when the diagnosis was first made and for continuing to support him.

This is his website: http://www.kiaranmclaughlinracing.com/tr...

This is his page on the NTRA website: http://www.ntra.com/stats_bios.aspx?id=2...

You'll notice that on those two web pages, the only mention of his MS is on the NTRA page: "...Was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 1998 and takes daily injections to combat it ... An active advocate for the disease, McLaughlin was honored as the MS Champion by the National Multiple Sclerosis Society's Kentucky-Southeast Indiana chapter at its 2006 Dinner of Champions fundraiser ..."

He's a class act, and I'm sure will be an eventual inductee into the Racing Hall of Fame.

Yes, he does. He was diagnosed in 1998. You can read about him simply by typing his name into your web browser followed by the words multiple sclerosis. That is what I just did. He takes injections every day and is doing well traveling and training horses. He also does fund raising to find a cure for MS. His first name is Kiaran.

Thank you for teaching me something new. This is not a trainer I know very much about so it was nice to learn something about him.

He was diagnosed in 1998 with MS but apart from that I was unable to find out anything current about his condition. He is actively training and looks to have 2 entries in the Kentucky Oaks but pulled his horse Charitable Man off the Derby trail after he turned in a poor performance in the Bluegrass Stakes. (I was at Keeneland that day. What a race!)

Hope this helps and here are some links for you.....
