I have had MS since I was 17 years old (I'm 21 now). I'm also an RN student. So here goes... MS is treated in two ways. Preventative (long term) therapy such as the interferon drugs (rebif, copaxone, avonex, betaseron). These drugs help slow the progression of the disease. Also there's Novantron (sp?) which is a chemo type drug that is supposted to be very good (however is dose limiting d/t toxicity. The second way MS is treated is by treating the specific exacerbation. These are typically treated with steroids such as SoluMedrol (IV) or Prednisone (by mouth). The theory with these is to hault the inflamation, ease the immune's attack on the brain & allow the nerves in the CNS to re-myelinate. Anyway, if they've tried the typical long term drugs and the steroids and nothing's helping... I'd go for the Novantron. But always try typical stuff first. Novantron does have its dangers. Source(s): RN Student Person w/ MS since 2003 feel free to email me tropical_02@yahoo.com NOPE NO CURE BUT SMOKING POT HELPS THE TREMORS AND FLEXABILITY, THE MUSCLE ACHES ECT. I also have M.S, was dx'd in 2001. There is no cure at this time, however there are drugs that will help in away of slowing down the progression of M.S. You didn't mention if she is seeing a Neurologist Dr. this is the kind of Dr. that she must see in order to get the best care possible for this chronic illness. There are many new drug out now, and afew that are in studies that are encouraging at this time. I can't express enough how important it that she is under the care of a Dr. that is very aggressive in treatment for M.S. The sooner you get started the better off you are. There is a world of information on the Internet about M.S. Hope this has helped. Char.. I am a Homeopath and so far I have treated a few patients with MS and all of them are showing positive results. Multiple Sclerosis or any other disease or disorder for that matter can be treated and cured if we pay special attention to the symptoms which the patients tells us. Homeopathy treats the patient not the disease or disorder and that it is why it succeeds where other treatments fail. Please send me her symptoms and medical details so I can recommend an appropriate remedy for her specific individual symptoms and by the Grace of the Almighty, we can treat her and make her feel better in every way. Take Care and God Bless ! P.S. I'll be waiting for your detailed email please be specific and exact and it would be preferable if the patient describes her own symptoms in her own words how and what she feels is of prime importance in treating and curing her. Please dont listen to souldoctor. There is NO cure. He is probably selling supplements. I have MS and research it extensively. Beware of anyone who claims there is a cure, they are usually selling something. Aside from that, brandi mc said everything else that I would have said. |
