My son has Multiple Sclerosis? What is the best way to show my support?

He was diagnosed when he was 19. He is now 22 and so far, pretty healthy. He has had several severe attacks, but nothing that has been permanent. The problem I have is that I am so emotional about the whole thing. It is hard for me to even be around him, because I just want to hold him in my arms and cry. I know I can't do this, because I have to be strong for him. How do I handle this? I don't think I am as strong as I need to be. I love him so much. Also, I feel like I am neglecting my younger son, because all I do is worry about my son with MS. My younger son says he understand why I feel like I do. He is also scared for his brother. The whole thing just sucks!

I have been diagnosed for a year now with MS. A lot of people don't understand the effect this cruel disease has on the entire family. A lot of times,"I don't look sick" and others think whats wrong with her.The biggest support I have is my family and a group of close friends. They are just there. There to help me in times of exasperation's and to just be close to me.That's whats most important to me.
If you would like to contact me at any time with questions, please feel free to do so.Sharing experiences help us a lot. Good luck to your entire family.鈾?
get him in a support group at your hspital where you see your doctor. Once he starts with that and he starts talking to others who have the same problem then he can talk to them and get it out. I've had 2 illnessses and went to support groups and they really helped out. Ask your doctor if they have a social worker at the hospital tha t organizes all these as they would be good to talk to also.
Who says you have to be strong, what you have to be is a mother and that is what mothers do. don't be emmbarassed to show your son that you care enough for him that it hurts. At some point you will come to grips with it some what, but don't neglect him until then, whats that tell him?
