Hi! Does anyone here know anything about Multiple Sclerosis? They say its a deadly disease with no known cure. |
Doctors say there is no known cure yet. Its a debilitating disease that could cause slow paralysis from the lower extremeties up to the brain. Patients usually die from complications and not from the disease itself. Hello there, I can help you with all sorts of information about MS, my wife has had it for 18 years now and I have all sorts of information for you, but rather than put it in here just email me at poohinmissouri@yahoo.com i also have a free chat room where we deal with all sorts of diseases and you can talk to me there and I will be glad to help, as well as a free message board with lots of MS information for you, there are many medications out there that can help and I will be glad to help you and pcheesewhiz you say it can not paralyze lower extremeties up to the brain, you want to tell that to my wife who has been laying in the hospital paralized from the neck down and unable to talk because of her MS? so yes it can paralyze, I am not saying it happens often but I am saying it can depending on how severe the persons MS is. currant berries can relieve some symptoms, read about the MS myelin sheath repair yahoo search. MS is an auto immune disease that unfortunately is not cureable. Thereare different types of MS and greatly varying symptoms even within a given type. MS attacks the myelin sheath. Depending on where the myelin sheath is damaged affects what symptoms a person will have. There are many medications and supplements used to battle the symptoms. And some people with MS go into remission for years. The myelin sheath research projects are trying to find a way to get the myelin sheath to repair/ regenerate itself. Unfortunately they have not yet suceeded. If they find a way to achieve this it would not only help MS patients but Dystrophy patients as well. I hope this helps. I have had MS for almost 20 years. It is not a fatal disease. It is a disease that attacks the myelin which is the protective covering on the nerves. The predominant complaint of people with MS is tingling in the limbs and fatigue. The disease is not always debilitating and in fact many people who have it lead normal lives. MS cannot paralyze anyone from the lower extremities to the brain since it does not affect any major organs. Nor can it paralyze the brain. Where in heaven's name did you get your information? Very few people die from the disease and very few people suffer and die from complications. While there is no cure yet, there are a number of effective FDA approved drugs and non FDA -approved drugs on the market. Who is this misinformed "they" you are referring to? Contact the National MS Society for some reliable information on this disease which you apparently need. Hello, as you might have discovered by the answers you have already gotten, the affects of MS vary from person to person. MS is an incurable disease, but there have been great strides made in the last 10 years that slow the progression and the degree to which people are disabled. The majority of us with MS are able to live long , productive lives. It is also true that the majority of people who die with the disease die from a complication such as pneumonia. |
