What are your thoughts on the career choice of naturopathy? And tell me why you have that opinion.?

So that I know at what point of view your coming from, tell me your career and any experiences you've had with naturopathies

And I live in the new york metropolitan area

I am a naturopath. I am very happy to have chosen this field. I see my job as largely one of educating patients and the public about ways to stay healthy and get healthier instead of just the pill-pushing I would be doing as an MD. Where I live, the field is regulated and one must complete a rigorous course of study including mostly the same course of study of regular medicine that and MD must complete with the addition of studies in herbal medicine and aromatherapy and hydrotherapy and more.

The major difference between my practice than that of the local MD is that my patients want to know how they can change what they are doing to get healthier and most of the patients at the local health clinics want to get a pill to solve their problems while continuing the same lifestyle that got them into trouble in the first place.

The local MD certainly knows about prevention and life style [and diet] change just like I do, it's just that his/her patients don't want to hear about it. They'd rather take a pill than change their diet or their lifestyle and so the MDs here are much more frustrated with their patients at times than I am with mine and they cannot experience the feeling of having really helped someone as much as opposed to just treating symptoms until they return again.

I come from many years in medicine, both conventionally and alternative......however, if you really want to get into the ancient art of healing, i would suggest either Ayurvedic or traditional Chinese medicine....it is very important to have a thorough knowledge of the humors ..earth, air , fire, and water...of the body. I say this from my own experience in the Naturopathic training I have had.....and at the end of the day...it is the Ayurvedic and Chinese I use. life style is very important in healing, and a sound knowledge of the type of body one is treating. The ancients also proclaimed that a person ought to be responsible for their own health, so over the years have developed my own system, so also teach a person about their own body, and in that they learn to understand their own make up and while they are healing, they also learn with understanding to take the responsibility with confidence...this to me is true healing. I hope this helps you and good luck for such a great vocation.

I am a person who goes to naturists instead of the M.D. I did pills for many years before I discovered alternative medicine I will never go back. I was always in hospital was being checked for multiple sclerosis and now am fine can you believe it? My friend had lopus was given max 5 years to live that was more than 5 years ago she is pregnant and has no lopus in her system, when she went for her blood's recently they told her they must of made the original diagnoses in error, yeah right! Oh by the way she is a midwife so the diagnoses was no error she read the bloods.

I'm currently in school with Clayton College of Natural Health. I want to see myself and my community change lifestyles about health and eating and stay out of the traditional medical doctors over simple stuff we can heal at home or prevent ourselves.

I think naturopathy is great. I saw one for a while and experienced an awakening that literally changed my whole outlook on life. I will always support natural medicine.
