Nutrition and Menstration?


I have heard that one of the first things affected in anorexia patients is their mentrual cycle. Does anyone know how quickly this affect can occur? How long do unhealthy eating habits have to be in place before it can throw off the menstrual cycle?

Height: 5'5"
Weight: normally around a decent 115-120 lbs, currently around 110 lbs.
Eating habit changes: began skipping lunches for a couple weeks. On someone my size, this was enough to begin exposing my hip and rib bones, which caused me to worry that I wasn't taking care of myself (usually i'm very healthy, and just got very busy), and I am working to get my diet back on track.
I've been charting my temperature, and it has remained VERY low, even though at this point it should be higher...

I can answer this one from experience. Yes, my period changed drastically one time when I last weight. I went months without one!!!! Dr said I was ok though and when I got into a more "normal" lifestyle, it came back.

That totally depends on the person.
How unhealthy are the habits?
I mean does the person eat something or nothing at all?
What is the person's weight and height?
How old is the person?
There are a million variants that play a role in this.
So sorry it's not that easy to answer.

The menstrual cycle is one of the first things that is off with any kind of body conforment, for lack of better word, lose weight, gain weight, change eating habits, sleep, stress, or just about anything can mess up your cycle.
