How do these nutrition facts size up ? Would it be healthy to continually eat this over and over again?


Its diet food made by a doc and it tastes pretty darn good. His name is Dr McDougall and it is actually vegan soup & oatmeals. The nutrition facts go as follows:

Calories: 100 Califories from fat: 5
Total Fat 0.5g 1%
Saturated Fat 0g
Trans Fat 0g
Cholesterol 0mg

Sodium 290mg------12%
Carbs: 21g------------7%
Dietary Fibers 1g---4%
Sugars 2g
Protein 4g


If you know how to read labels and are experienced with food intake etc. please help! I am wondering if I only eat 1,000 cals a day if I will loose weight, if I work out/walk/jog - drink lots of water.

I am just wanting someone to double check the sodium/etc.

that is a fine thing to eat, I mean, not if that's ALL you eat, you got to eat fresh fruits and vegetables, not sure what vitamins are in that... and such but it's healthy.

the Sodium.. well, I have a regular to low blood pressure so I am totally unconcerned with sodium =P but that seems alright for.. I assume it's soup, because oatmeal is generally not oatmeal

You should eat atleast 1,200 calories though or else your body goes into starvation mode, but eating 1,200 (healthy/balanced diet) calories and exercising 1 hour 4-5 times a week is a good idea if you want to lose weight
