On the left the top of the list has a MyPyramid Menu Planner.... that is a good place to start as it will give you dietary recommendation that are specific to your height, weight, age and gender. The website is full of thoroughly researched recommendations. Hope it helps.

The RDA for these is just a guideline, the average man needs about 2500 calories but a male athlete in good condition could easily need 6-7000 calories. People in different sports need different amounts of protein and carbs for instance.
