Anybody know nutrition guidelines for infants?

Like how many servings of fruits/vegetables, grains, dairy, protein, etc. an eight month old baby should have? I feed Emma usually yogurt and cereal in the morning and sometimes an egg. For lunch two vegetables and a fruit. For supper it is usually something we are eating. If we are having lasanga or mac n cheese I give it to her and she loves it, but I feel guilty even though she had veggies for lunch.

Use this! It is so great!

Here's a list of what to feed an 8 to 10 month old. I didn't give juice till one year, and then only once a week if that, per my doctor's suggestion.

What to feed
鈥?Breast milk or formula, PLUS
鈥?Small amounts of soft pasteurized cheese, yogurt, cottage cheese (but no cows' milk until age 1)
鈥?Iron-fortified cereals (rice, barley, wheat, oats, mixed cereals)
鈥?Mashed fruits and vegetables (bananas, peaches, pears, avocados, cooked carrots, squash, potatoes, sweet potatoes)
鈥?Finger foods (lightly toasted bagels, cut up; small pieces of ripe banana; well-cooked spiral pasta; teething crackers; low-sugar O-shaped cereal)
鈥?Small amounts of protein (egg yolk, pureed meats and poultry; tofu; well-cooked and mashed beans with soft skins like lentils, split peas, pintos, black beans)
鈥?Non-citrus juice (apple or pear)

How much per day
鈥?录 to 1/3 cup dairy (or 陆 oz. cheese)
鈥?录 to 陆 cup iron-fortified cereal
鈥?录 to 陆 cup fruit
鈥?录 to 陆 cup vegetables
鈥?1/8 to 录 cup protein foods
鈥?3 to 4 oz. non-citrus juices

I also don't use much cereal except for oatmeal, but I do feed him brown rice and other whole grains.

At 8 months, the majority of her calories should still come from breastmilk (or formula). Don't feel guilty about only having veggies once a day because breastmilk has all the vitamins/nutrients they need for teh first year even if that's the only thing they ate. However, do make sure that you're exposing Emma to a variety of veggies, so she learns to like them, as it will be important later. Also, the frozen peas/carrots mix or cubed sweet potatoes make great snacks. It sounds like she's eating just fine...

Beware; most guidelines you read are either written by baby food companies,* or heavily influenced by same. Common sense -- healthy food and a balanced diet -- and you're fine.

"How to introduce healthy children to solid food has rarely been studied. Even the federal government has given it little attention; dietary guidelines apply only to children 2 and older..."
