Nutrition tips before soccer?

I have a spare before second last period in school so I always go home for lunch. A couple days ago, i had eggs, rice, and chicken nuggets for lunch on the day I had a soccer practice. Coach made us run a ton, and then running drills, and then I couldn't take it anymore and I puked.

I thought my meal earlier was a good choice until that moment. Was what I ate bad? So I was wondering if anyone could give some ideas on what I should eat that will give me energy, and maybe if anyone knows how much time should I leave between eating and playing so that I wont throw up again :S

Also does anyone know how long it takes to digest food?

eat something like pasta or bread or a turkey sandwich something light. when you have practice you must eat 2 hours before practice so when you run you don't puke. the same thing happened to me but not the throwing up part. but eat fruit grapes, apples, and etc. i play soccer too been play since my brother taught me how to play

Being a soccer player myself, here are some good foods for before, during and after the games/practices.

If you combine some of those together its lightweight and it gives you the stranth you need to get a goal :]

Yeah when you knew there would be a soccer practice where the coach is workin ya so hard it is better to have a light snack consisting of pasta etc and if possible drink a cup of tea and do a light run from your home to your school

a spoonful of honey gives you energy!
liver and bananas are high in protein
bananas digest faster
it deoends on which types of foods you eat(heavy or light) and the enzymes in ur body that speed digestion up
