How can a vegan get all her proper nutrition?


I've heard of peopleing dying from lack of nutrition after going vegan. As long as I'm eating a wide variety of foods, do you think I'll be ok?

If you eat a wide variety of fruits, vegetables, nuts, and seeds, you should have no difficulty getting enough protein.

If, on the other hand, you eat, as too many people do, a diet predominantly composed of sugars and starches (sugars and sweets, breads, cakes, cookies, crackers, etc. rice, noodles, potatoes, etc.), you may find yourself deficient in any number of nutrients, in addition to protein.

Ok I think it would be very good for you, and your mom to read a book calles. The Vegan Soucebook.
I have just gotten into readong it and it has a lot on the reasons to go vegan, it also has 50 pages on vegan nutrition, along with a vegan food pyramid!
I recommend you try to find a copy at your library for your mom to read, and you to!

I'm vegan. I'm a 205 pound healthy adult male, and I've been vegetarian or vegan most of my life. Challenge her to name the people who have died. She cannot.

You should get a book on becoming vegan which will help you figure out what foods give you what nutrients. Very few people have died from becoming vegan, in fact i have never heard of that. Some people with pre--existing conditions in which they have difficulty absorbing nutrients may have some trouble after dramatically changing their diet (even if it is to a healthier meal plan).

Quite frankly, you can't.

You only get vitamin B12 from animal products. Even if you take a supplement you won't get all you need because your body doesn't absorb supplements like it does the food.

Also it's really really hard to get all your protein when you do eat meat, dairy, or eggs.

Maybe try adding eggs to your diet? I know someone who was vegan but she eventually started eating eggs.

typically vegans care about their health and even if they aren't getting proper nutrients, notice it before they DIE...

I am vegan. you just have to have a well rounded diet.
you don't necessarily need supplements, so don't go out and start taking them! too much calcium, for instance., does the opposite and starts making your bones weak.

Where did you hear of people dying from being vegan? I've never once heard of that happening... sounds really odd... it's probably just a dumb rumour.

A vegan diet can be very healthy or very bad for you, depends what you eat. For example. potato chips are vegan. But if you eat potato chips all day what's going to happen? You'll get fat and won't have any energy and you'll be unhealthy.

you need meat. i've seen the results without meat, and
it ain't good. you're body wants it, and the Bible says to eat meat,
so there must be a reason

Eat a wide variety of foods. I hear it may be helpfull to take vitamins too...
