What exactly is my teacher asking for in my nutrition class? I dont understand her question?

What does she mean by FUNCTIONAL FOODS???????

Functional foods contain physiologically active compounds that provide health benefits beyond basic nutrition. They provide a potentially "extra" benefit to health.
Examples:
Grains rich in dietary fibers
Fish rich in Omega-3 fatty acids
Fruits rich in phytochemicals

Basically, you can answer the question just talking about the new focus on foods that are naturally-occurring sources of antioxidants: blueberries, apples, teas...
People want functional foods for the extra health benefits that come with their consumption.

nutritious foods, such as anything that boasts better health by eating it. vitamin enriched products would be an example.

im not 100% sure but i think it means foods that are beneficial to our health like fruit and foods with nutrients and vitamins in them.hope thats helped.
