15 year old in a major health delima! Nutrition spiraling downwards...? |
I'm a 15 year old female runner. 5 months ago I commited to a vegetarian lifestyle. My problem is my eating habits are terrible. I am not overweight, I just am concerned about the amount of nutrient dense foods (protein/especially IRON) I am consuming being way to low. The major problems are these: 1. I have no time to eat breakfast. 2. Lunch lines in high school are pathetic. 3. I have to cook vegetarian dishes on my own, so I need some good recipes that are EASY and use common ingredients that I would find in a typical fridge/pantry. 4. I consume virtually NO vegetables because I hate them raw/plain. How do prepare yummy veggies? I hope that you understand my problem: I'm a vegetarian teenager who needs more good food choices and especially vegetables (I have no problem consuming fruits). I need dishes I can cook on my own as well. (PS: I've heard of a website where you can type in the ingredients you have and they give you a recipe. What is it called?) bieng a vegetarien can take years off ur life cause like u dont get teh protien n thats important for your body EAT MEAT being a vegatarian doesnt do nething for ur body You need protein, so you better make sure to eat some beans etc. Here are vegetarian recipes. http://allrecipes.com/recipes/vegetarian... they sell microwavable meat free patties and dishes. and the night before throw a whole bunch of raw friut in your backpack to snack on for breakfast ETC... You need to go to ur doctor who can refer you to a nutritionist!!! As for problem one and two...get up earlier and the night b4 make ur self a lunch!!! there are plenty of ways you can get nutrition and from veg too...but you have to give veg a chance...come on you ain't five anymore...give it a chance and don't just eat it plain...do something exciting!!! Don't know ur website ur after but try typing it in to a search engine...DO NOT GO ON THE WAY YOU ARE...SEEK SOME HELP!!! http://www.kraftfoods.com/kf I am bad with veggies too, but if you get some Asperagus cook it with some butter, on the stove for a few min until it softens HOLY MOLY its so yummy..... Im a stay at home mom and I know nothing about the kitchen so I google *recipes* and all sorts of websites help me out! same here...im scared i might be anemic (i have an ed and im a pescatarian) grill some zucchini with barbacue sauce or some olive oil and sprinkle with salt nd pepper, bake eggplant with ur fav cheese and spaghetti sauce, pop frozen broccoli in the mic until its done and toss it together with some tomatoes, pasta, cheese, and spaghetti sauce........etc etc etc there are LOADS of ways to enjoy your veggies, you just gotta be creative with it |
