Do you think that over the christmas period their will be a slight increase in obesity? |
or some people gaining weight? Absolutely fat chance i think it goes without saying that all these things will happen. People like to let go at this time of year. Who cares? Give me some CANDY! yes, people usually gain a average of 7 lbs during the holidays.. and more people become depressed during the holidays and commit suicide unfortunately Isn't there always. Even the dog gets fat! I'm in a group right now that's encouraging weight loss BEFORE the holidays--so if a person puts on a pound or two during the holidays it's not as bad. Am planning on it...and what about excessive drinking, indeed! I think it will ... Defentally I've worked on a substance abuse unit for 33 years and the only thing that gets a little bit worse is the depression that a lot of people feel during the holidays. People overeat and drink too much 24-7. Some people will eat a little more or drink a little more over the holidays, but not enough to make a big difference in the healthcare business. Good question! Everybody over indulges at christmas either food wise, drinkwise or both! But then new year comes and most people make resolutions to go on diets or take up exercise or give up the booze for a while and most are lucky enough to loose the extra weight they put on! The holiday season is generally a time of the year when many will eat more than they usually do. If they don't change their calorie burn (e.g. activity) then it would normal to assume there will be weight gain. However, for any one who eats more than usual, this will also occur at any time of the year and is not a condition limited to the holiday season. The hoidays may increase the general tendencies. I know that as I put on my 400 pounds over the last 9 years to reach 620, I would find the holidays not periods of time when I gained any more. That was likely due to the fact that I spent more time at relatives or friends where I may not have overeaten as much. My overeating was tied more to my traveling and eating out at all you can eat places. It was also tied to how much I ate. |
