What can we do to lower the obesity rate in the children and adults in the US? |
I care about the health of our future generations! promote healthier eating habits and exercise more in general don't give in that one extra cookie here or stop to a favorite fast food stand there it all adds up, start young cont calories and cut down on sweets and fats instead have fruits and vegetables and send healthier lunches such as carrots and sandwiches made with whole wheat bread opt for sugar free juices ex juicy juice and low fat milk etc become spartans tie their fat butts up behind our vehicles and if they can keep up they WILL lose weight. If they cant keep up-consider it population control. stop eating so much and stop eating such crappy food. ( i don't mean you i mean whoever needs or wants to lose weight!) Nothing. First, at school stop giving the kids pizza for lunch and crapy food like that! Second, at home parents start cooking healthy food and stop eating at fast food, that's a start! It's not just about watching what our kids eat at home.... but most kids don't have PE or recess in school anymore! Really it's not the children's faults. It's their parents. They don't make an effort to get their children to eat healthy or exercise.Another thing I think Is P.E.Yes It's supposed to make kids healthybut really all their doing is forcing the childrento do exercise they can't do because their parents did not encourage them to exercise and now they're being ridiculed and being graded on it.So will they exercise at home NO BECAUSE.P.E makeschildren exercise haters.I'm not saing P.E is a bad thing but I think you should ease up. Eat less and drink more water to satisfy the hunger once the minimum daily rate wrt the person is reached... I do wonder if there are really more obese children and adults (as a percentage of population) now than in earlier periods or if our increased awareness of obesity is due to publicity about obesity. I would offer that children and adults who are obese are fully aware of why they are obese - they eat or have eaten more than they burn. Assuming they are not this way due to a medical condition, they may also be obese because they choose to be that way. We should certainly make sure they are aware of the actions they may take and the consequences of being obese; however, I would postulate they already know this. They may simply have made a choice to be this way. I know that I was a very obese child and loved being that way (200 plus in 4th grade going to over 450 when I finished high school) and am so as a early 50s male (I decided in my early 40s that I was happiest when I was obese and I gained 400 pounds over the last 9 years) weighing 620. I know why I was and am obese - I love to eat and overeat and my activity level is not high enough. I am however happy and it is my choice. |
