Does homework contribute to obesity?

i have a report on why homework is bad and i think that this is a revelant question!! do you think you can help me?

Technically it could actually. If you have too much homework, it reduces the time you can spend moving around and burning energy, making you more at risk of gaining weight.

It also can stop you from sleeping, lack of sleep can also lead to weight gain due to a slower metabolism.

Also you're more prone to snacking while doing homework, so if you're snacking more and moving less, that can also lead to weight gain.

It's far-fetched but kinda possible.

Not nearly as much as video games and television. But I have heard of Chinese and Indian students studying for 8 hours a day and doing no physical activity. So it is a plausible theory and I'm sure it is true in at least a few incidents.

No...... but it stresses kids out, you can use that.

I think so, it should be eradicated immediately.
I do homework all night, literally. I come home from school and start working, and I keep working until usually around 11pm, and then I take a shower and go to sleep. I'm not obese but I could be if I ate a lot of high-calorie foods.

I would say it takes up time for physical actvity, but most kids would use that time to watch TV or play video Games anyway.

yes dern it!! it does mom's and dad's say Billy go do ur homework and i will give u a snack!! too many snacks

Homework can cause excessive stress.

It can also have a negative impact on those kids whose socio-economic background and parental influences differ from that of classmates. In other words their friends get support and sometimes assistance (the answers!) from their parents, others get no help, encouragement or time (esp if they are caring for sick parents or younger siblings). It can further set them apart academically.

There's a reason why teachers give you homework. It's not like they hate you. They're trying to help you. How else are you going to memorize things if you don't review them? I never understood why people complain about homework. It takes one or two hours out of your day. Boo-hoo. Cry me a river.

Wait until you get into the real world.

No. Eating too much food contributes to obesity. I remember my days in school and always enjoyed reading a lot about the subjects being taught and doing my homework. It also happened that I enjoyed eating all the time and would often eat when I read or did homework. That eating would be in addition to my eating several helpings at meals. I was very fat as a child and tennager and as I went through school I became fatter and fatter each year from about 180 in grade 4 to over 475 by the end of high school. I liked eating and loved being fat. Yes my eating while I did homework or reading caused me to gain more weight but that was my own choice. Since I was very fat I was not involved in sports like other kids but I still would play with other kids if I had time. When I did, it was obvious that my big fat size made me slower and less mobile but I still had fun, even if I was often teased about my size. I did very well in school and I attribute much of that to my willingness to invest the time in reading and learning, with the added benefit that I could eat while doing that and become very big.

why would it bee?

No amego

No. Of course it doesn't, that's ridiculous.
Obesity is caused by overeating and under-exercising.
