Why is obesity affecting so many people?

`rowlfe'-you cant rely on `willpower' as it comes and goes.
`willpower' is when you go `yeah! I`m gonna to this' then abt an hour later `ohh,I cant do this,I cant be stuffed' just like dr;phill says ,you have to force yourself to lose weigt by getting a new lifestyle that doesn`t alow you to overeat.
my mum doesn`t have a car so we walk everywhere so I`m always slim.but my mum`s overweight,causeshe use to drive and now she`s having troble losing it.I`m starting to get a bit of a jelly belly cause I dont go down the shops with her anyore like I useto. so just because vyou ont have a car,doesn`t mean you cant get overweight. less and less ppl are eating a `healthy diet' and of corse not enogh exercise.Lack of sleep is also a factor and due to computers,tv,videogames,where
spending most of our time indoors,combine that with a
common diet of foods with lots of salt,fat and sugar,we are bound to be overweight.ppl should take the time to look at what there doing to their bodies and stop,befre they get overweight or if they already are,obese.I think everyone should also pa as mutch atention to anorexic ppl.even as young as 6! what are we thinking! I thoght the human race was intelligent?! thats not all of us tho.at least some ppl are making an efort.and no wonder all health mags have in them is `weight loss articales' because it affects almost everone of us now.even if your not verweight,mos chances are that you know someone who is,so theppl who keep complaning abt too many things abt weight loss,its reality! everyone needs a wake up call to start looking after themselves.

FIVE MYTHS ABT OBESE PPL 1. People don't realize they are fat or why.
As Dr. Phil points out, "People who are overweight for a long time don't have a distorted body image." They are aware of their size.

2. Fat people are lazy and slow.
This is not true. You cannot make a blanket judgment about a person's motivation or character based on his/her weight.

3. All fat people eat too much.
This myth doesn't take two important factors into account: physical activity and metabolic resistance.

4. Fat people eat because they're always hungry.
As Dr. Phil says, "Its not what you are eating, but why you are overeating." Many people eat emotionally and use food as a source of comfort 鈥?which has nothing to do with hunger.

5. Fat people are always unhappy being fat.
Body image and self-image are two separate things. You can have a healthy self-image whether or not you are happy about your body image.

Weight is a simple thing to control in theory. Consume fewer calories than you burn consistently, day to day, and you will lose weight over time. Consume more calories then you burn, day to day, and you gain weight over time.Weight control takes knowledge and willpower. Most people are simply uneducated about nutrition and take the easy way because it tastes SO good, and then, do not exercise enough. In general, the higher the fat content in any food, the better it tastes, so people tend to overeat. A balanced diet and some self-control would solve the problem, but we are are in the leading the horse to water kind of problem. You can't force people to do themselves good, when it tastes so good to go for the fast food with high fat content, and then go for seconds... Of course, some times there are genetic and medical reasons why people gain weight, but for the most part, it is a personal failure of a lack of self control and a lack of education on what foods are better than others for you. My problem is these people who personally fail are claiming it is not their fault, and have tried (and failed) to sue the fast food chains as the cause for their obesity. People do NOT want to hear they have been, are being, stupid...

People are lazy.. and all they eat is comfort food.

Too much food, too little exercise, too little hard work.

Because the food on the shelves is all junk! Over-processed with chemicals and dyes, too much sugar, too much salt to preserve it. Everybody wants convenience and this is the price we pay for convenience. Fresh food costs more to buy, and it takes longer to prepare. But it tastes better and it's healthier for you.

Nobody walks anymore. Cars.

coz working out takes a lot more energy

Cause I like to eat and hate to sweat. Is that a crime?

No seriously, I wish I didn't have such a love for food. But I have used it as my vice. I could have easily been a smoker or a druggie and been thin. But at least I have big boobs, so that's a plus.

Because food is put into such big portions...

cuz there's a mcdonalds on every street corner.
