What are some technological advancements that contribute to the increase in obesity over the past few years?

so far i have: cars, internet (shopping online), clap on light, remot control for everything (tv, fan, stereo), fast food restuarants (located within a mile of each other)

I need some technological advancements that have increased obesity...

Cell phones, so you don't have to walk over to the wall for the landline.

Automatic garage door openers.
Power lawn mowers.
Automated sprinkler systems.
Drive through banking.

What would you consider "the past few years"? The last five or the last 30?

Regardless, here are some to ponder:
microwaves
frozen meals
candy bars
chemical stabilizers for food
television
dvds
gaming systems
diet pills
gastric bypass surgery

Keep in mind that the last two can actually decrease obesity, but they also can allow for a mindset that can contribute to obesity.

Keep in mind that none of these necessarily increase obesity, but make it easier for one to avoid exercise or to overeat.

Plastic (It's easy to pop 2 swiss cake rolls in your mouth instead of one when they're packaged

video games

phone

dishwasher (takes less human energy)

Motor Cycles

webcam

bus

train

plane

velcro

zipper

razor

footrests

microwaves

fridge

garage door openers

rumba (even though it barely works)

being able to turn off game systems witha controller (you don't have to get up, you can just go straight to sleep)

robots

machines

automatic toilet flushers

cell phone

pool cleaners

boomerangs

music ( it is recorde so you do not have to go to a concert or pay somoene to play music for you)

escalators

elevators

you've pretty much nailed it on the head. 40 years ago you rode a bike or walked everywhere, you got up every time you wanted to change the channel, turn on/off a light. if you needed a math answer, you got out a pencil and a lot of paper, now you find a calculator or use your computer.
