How to start a research paper about obesity.help!?

i have a research project to do about "Obesity as a disease" in my biology class, it must be defensible by either pro or con. I don't know to do/start it. :[..Can somebody help me?! Thank you!

What does "defensible by pro con mean?"

You should start with a quote from a source. For instance, I start here with a quote from http://www.cdc.gov/nccdphp/dnpa/obesity/...

Here's a intro from me, just for reference.

-> According to the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention, obesity in adults 20 to 74 year of age has increased 17.9% from 1970 to 2004. Therefore, it's estimated that 32.9% of adults in 2004 were considered obese- that's a huge difference from just 34 year ago. Obesity has spread across the U.S. like an epidemic, causing problems like type 2 diabetes in children- something that was unheard of back in the 70s.

So yeah that's my quick intro.

If it's wrong or not what you were looking for, I apologize!

A good place to start is the Wikipedia's article on obesity. This article has a section on the health effects of obesity. And it has a lot of links to other references and articles. Here it is:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Obesity

Basically, you have to form an opinion about obesity. Such as 'obesity is a big health problem'. Or 'treating obesity as a disease is a form of prejudice'. And then you have to find facts and expert opinions to support your opinion.

For example you could say that obesity is a health problem. And then you would list the health problems obesity causes. Such as diabetes, heart disease, stroke, and high blood presure. And for each of these health problems you would say with supporting quotes from experts how obesity makes people sick.

Start out here: http://www.cdc.gov/nccdphp/dnpa/obesity/...
Also: http://www.cdc.gov/prc/research-projects...
http://www.cdc.gov/nchs/products/pubs/pu...
These websites will give you a huge beginning. You need to decide whether you are going to do this report on children, adults or both.
