Why do Some People think Childhood Obesity is Cute??

Have you ever noticed that some people tend to think fat children are cute? A co-worker was telling me about her younger sister and how cute she was. She said her chubby cheeks and tummy were just adorable. I saw a picture and the girl was just plain fat. She was 5 years old, and already obese. I think this is very sad and far from "cute"
I've heard other parents/people say these things about young children. Am I the only one who does not find this cute but appalling?

People sometimes don't understand that that cute baby fat may follow them to adulthood, and that it is a major cause of death..
So sad, stop buying happy meals people. Just get them a darn toy at the Dollar store or something!!!

Chubby isn't obese. From ancient Europe time, a lot of sculptures of cupids are all chubby. Don't you think it is kind cute? If they were really fat depending how you judge, it is people own business. I wouldn't make any judgement or argue about it is fat or chubby. Beauty in the butcher's eyes. Everyone see the world in the tons of different way. It is very subjective, like arts. You might keen on weight gaining, but some don't. They just enjoy the life and happiness no matter how really fat he or she is, until the heavy weight really impacting their health or psychological inner. So take it easy.

but jeez theyre only children, do you expect them to call them ugly? it's their parents fault not the child. and some people do find chubby cheeks and tummy and stuff adorable, personal choice. they do this with grown women too, but you haven't seen it here. i guess it is a bit gross/shocking but what are you going to do..

I agree....my father-in-law thought I wasn't feeding my son when he was an infant because he wasn't a fat baby...I had to pull out my baby book and show him pictures of myself as a child and a picture of my father (who is very skinny). I think people who are raised in overweight families tend to think fat is cute...it is not..

I think that when there are chubby children than we see negligent parents. I think chubby children also show a sign of laziness and low self esteem. I also feel sorry for the children because I know that is only going to develop int o medical problems in the future.

People are stupid. They are holdovers from when people thought chubby babies were healthy babies. I really wished that my parents had taken my weight issues more seriously when I was a kid and taught me better eating and exercising habits. Maybe I wouldn't be struggling so hard now as an adult.

I'm with you. I do not find obese children cute at all and am seeing more and more very overweight children these days. Little babies with chubby cheeks are adorable however a 130 pound (or whatever) 5 year old is far from cute.

Chickun nuggets, see your GP. its horrorble. it can lead to all sorts of problems in later life! if your child is fat, put them on a diet and get them a nintendo wii (lol) and also get wii fit.

Rite, so i'm not cute even though many people tell me I am.
