What are some solutions towards childhood obesity?

Help out guys, post links anything. All your views and opinions are welcome.

Thank you

Kids have been eating junk food for decades, not that diet isn't a factor, but only in the last 10-20 years have kids really had a sedentary lifestyle. Doing the following will help a lot:

1. Get kids outside and playing/moving at least 1-2 hours a day, have them join a sport
2. Limit sugared drinks, no Big Gulps, more water
3. Limit fast food and fried food to no more than once or twice a week
4. Work with teachers/school to minimize homework to 1-2 hours a night - this trend of 4 hours of homework has to stop

tell them how it is.
show them pictures of people who are extreamly fat and pictures of fit people and ask them which would they rather be.
if they say the fit one, which they prolly will, teach them what is good for them, what is not, and how to exercise and how it all pays off.

i wish someone would have done this for me.
cause now im 15 and in the prossese of loosing 60 lbs

the previous answers are all on track.

I also think that when the corporations started using things like "high-fructose corn syrup" and such not, our diets started going out of wack.

call me crazy, but I 'try' to avoid stuff like that.

also, limit video game playing time. give equal time to physical stuff.

and cut down on Micky D's.

just some thoughts.

Parents that really , really care about their children. Disipline is the key. Raise them so that it is natural to eat and drink the right kind of foods. Sure a pizza for the kiddies make you feel good. But every 2 weeks is real love.If you aren't active your kids are usually not active.Limited TV. Lots of soccerBaseball. Run, run, run.
