Is obesity considered a disorder?

also is it genetic?

Yes, it is a disorder.

There may be genetic tendencies for some people to gain weight faster than others, but there is no excuse for anyone to be overweight.

this EPIDEMIC only started 50 years ago when people started eating junk food, processed food, when TV and games became popular.

I think part of it, like everything else, is genetic. However, there's also a difference between overweight and obese. If a person is overweight, they face greater health risks, but I wouldn't consider it a disorder. Obesity is considered a disorder because in 99.9% of cases, the obese person has almost what could be considered an "addiction" to eating. The live to eat, rather than eat to live. They just eat and eat and eat because that is what they love to do. They say that can't stop eating, even though they know they are at risk for serious health problems and that their families are concerned, etc. Almost like an alcohol, who just can't seem to stop drinking. So, yes, it IS a disorder.

some cases its genetic. Yes its considered as a disorder.
