Is obesity/fatness contagious?

It IS contagious. If you hang out with people who constantly overeat and sit around watching tv, you are more likely to gain weight.

If you hang out with people who are always active, play sports, and get off the couch, you'll be in better shape.

It's definately correlation.

No, it isn't contagious per se. However, there was a recent study that found that people who surround themselves with people who overindulge, have a greater chance of being obese themselves. I think this is because your fat friends are not going to judge you if you gain weight and you probably do more eating activities (versus heart-pumping exercise activities) with them.

.... obesiety isn't a DISEASE. It's like... an eating dissorder almost. It's just someone who is fat. You can't catch fat. You can just eat a lot. If your friend is forcing you to eat, that's still not contagious, that's them just force feeding you.

It is not contagious, but I think genetics has alot to do with it, so it CAN be inherited. Also, your parents are the ones who teach you how to eat, so if they taught you to eat healthy, make sure and thank them.

Not in the sense that you mean, like a virus or some such. But in a community of people who live and eat in the same fashion, if obesity were the result, it might look like they caught it from each other.

No...but a lot has to do with genetics.

You mean, can you catch obesity like you would the common cold? LOL Oh my! I hurt myself laughing. Surely you are kidding! Right?!?

No, that's not possible.

I don't think it's contagious but if you're friends with someone who only enjoys to go out to eat food that's not healthy for him/her, it can grow on you. :(
