Does this hold any truth?: "America is the only country in the world that obesity problems among the poor?"

Someone said this to me and it seemed outrageous. Please, no anger motivated responses.

No, several other countries have that too. Australia being one of them. Aborigines have a much higher obesity rate than white Australians.

The poor in some countries get plenty to eat, it's just crappy food and makes them very sick and fat.

i wouldn't know since im not poor..but i dont think thats true..
dude i think the whle obesity thing is fake...i eat like a pig, im 18, i never work out....maybe sometimes, and im thin. i have never had a problem with weight.
i dont think anyone on earth eats like i do.
to me, it all depends on the person, and how there body works.
and btw......poor people in america are not like poor people in africa....there is a big difference...they have tv's, and eat fast food.

no.
obesity is a huge problem here in the uk too and is mostly amongst the socially deprived.
Obesity is a massive problem for the NHS

No not true it happens all over as the poor have to eat what is available to then, mostly starch and fat, so there you have it.

It is said in Japan also.

Their annual income under 20000US dollars.

No it is also true in the UK too according to statistics and news reports I hear on the BBC.

Mexico and the other so-called "latin" american countries also... for many of them it is actually a status symbol
