Lingering effects of obesity?

I just turned 40 and I weighed 225 pounds. Over the last year, I have gotten down to 140 pounds. I'm very healthy now with no medical problems, and have low blood pressure. My question is this:
Am I still at risk for heart disease, diabetes, and certain cancers because of my prior obesity? Have I ruined myself? I run 3 miles a day, and I wish I had never let myself get that way. I'm just hoping I didn't ruin my health forever. Does anyone know?

Thanks!

the human body is very resilient, it normally takes decades of neglect to cause permanent damage to the body. typically the shorter the time spent being severely overweight the less damage there may have been caused. monitor your body fat % and shoot for a level that is below average for your age group. make sure to consume plenty of unsaturated fats to keep a healthy HDL:LDL ratio and decrease the risk of CVD, etc.

There shouldn't be risk unless you eat trans fat for breakfast.

Riskes leave as you become into shape. Exercising clears out that plaque that took shelter in the ehart for heart desies and cardvascular areast, heart attacks and suck. Cancers, most people don't them if they are in shape, even if they had a history vonerablity.

Your in the clear.
