How Much Would US Healthcare Costs Decline if Dems Got Rid of Obesity?

Wouldn't that be better for citizens and for the country?

Isn't the Dem plan one where people live foolishly and you pay for their lack of responsibility?

It's all about control with them.

To hell with liberty if we can get a vote

Caution. You are using Dems and obesity in the same line. Someone might see a connection here. Oh well, to hell with it anyway. I'll say it.
Since the war on poverty of over 40 years, we in this country have the greatest proportion of obese poor people. There I said it.
I was always of the impression that poor people were rail thin, living under bridges, no TV (no remote control either) and walked everywhere they went.
Universal health-care is bigger government which translates to more taxes for the wages of that massive bureaucratic entity.

How could any political party get rid of obesity? It's up to the overweight individuals to lose the weight.

However, health insurance companies could mandate that their policy holders be weighed once a year and obese persons be charged a higher premium. Not saying that I necessarily agree with that premise.

how exactly does obesity cost more in health care? They generally don't die from long-term illnesses, they don't run up huge bills, most of them drop dead at an early age from a heart attack. They don't live long enough to collect social security, which further saves the tax payer money.

I don't know about you, but I'm going to do my patriotic duty, walk into Burger King and get me an Enormous Omelet sandwich!

The only way to get rid of obesity is for the government to spend money on other things.

Like prevention campaigns.. which really do no good (shh! don't tell anyone).

Or gearing up the FDA which makes standards on food higher. Did you ever look at the crap in frozen foods? I mean the sodium, the fat, the carbs... geez... if a man from 1890 came in today and ate that I think he would die.

What you are saying is that the consumer is not rational. That is the building block on capitalist theory. If the consumer is not rational enough to make their own decisions, what's that say about capitalism?

Not nearly as much as if we could get rid of the illegal Mexican immigrants in this country that have destroyed our control on health care costs. Just ask all the hospitals in California and Arizona that have closed their doors because they were overwhelmed with illegal mexicans.

You'll love Obama's health plan. It is actually geared toward prevention, such as halting obesity.

um.. how is anyone going to just get rid of obesity, especially considering it on the basis of their political party?

Zero

About as much as if we ended our financial aid to Israel which is now billions a year, probably $50 billion

Fat chance.

you cons are so smart
