How does obesity affect others?

How is the rise in obesity in the US affecting the general population, not just the obese?

lets see...the obese has more health problems. if they cant pay their health care bill, the state may have to pick up the tab, which means we as the public pay it thru taxes.
it affects our health care system by more health problems and higher insurance costs
Obesity leads to or increases the risk for a number of other issues including heart problems, diabetes, miscarriage, cancer, dementia, high blood pressure, kidney stones etc.

Many of those things are life threatening and have the potential to leave children without a parent, it causes children to be a caretaker of the parent etc..

Actually it is forcing the companies who make beds, cars, wheelchairs, clothing etc to accomodate the additional size and weight thus increasing market share and profits for the companies.

Obesity is a terrible disease and it would be great if the medical folks could find a cure, becasue preventing obesity would really cut down on our overall healthcare costs as a nation.
Higher insurance rates, moral, public image
