If your obesity is inherited, will diet/exercise work? |
If your obesity is inherited, will diet/exercise work? You inherit a tendency towards obesity, but only eating will make you obese. Genes determine the number of fat cells we have, but it is the ages 8 - 12 where we really can put these beasts on the body. If children are fed a normal amount of food, healthy food, not allowed to sit all day in class and on computers, made to run and play, deprived of soft drinks and junk food, chances are the fat cells will NEVER develope. Therefore, we can "trick" the tendency. Unfortunately, parents do not tend to their kids in this respect. It used to be, "a fat child is a healthy child." Kids were made to "clean up their plates" whether they were full or not. Too bad...Today, obesety is epidemic because of inactivity and very bad diet. These kids will have a real battle their entire lives to control their weight, simply because they were allowed to put uncontrolled fat cells on their body at a critical time in developement. Only cell removal will have a great effect on perminent weight controll after the damage is done...that removal (Liposucion) is painful, dangerous, and very expensive....so silly when it could have been prevented in the first place. Definetly. yes, it will work Yes. Absolutely!!! Obesity is the bodies way of storing the extra fats, and sugars that it does not use for energy in the body. No matter how you became obese it all comes to the same thing. In order to lose the weight, you must eat fewer calories from fat, and sugar than you burn on a daily basis. If you are an active person but do not actually exercise, you should probably eat around 1200-1500 calories a day, and you will lose weight. A man on the other hand should probably eat about 2000 calories because of the metabolism difference from females. What it all really boils down to is, eat less calories than you burn. If you do this you will probably not have to so much change what you eat so much as eat less. Also it will be easier to do this with 5 or 6 smaller meals, and not depriving yourself of the things that you like. Instead of eating the king size Snickers for instance eat a regular size bar, and have it for one if your 5 meals with a glass of 1% milk. This is also something that will help your body lose the weight. Try 24 oz. a day of milk. You need to stay away from the whole milk though. 1% or skim is best, and it has been found that it will help you to lose the lbs. Instead of trying to kill yourself with exercise, try to start walking a little every day even if it is just for 15 minutes to start. Then as it becomes easy, go for longer walks. this will get your body warmed up and burning the fat. So after all of that... Good Luck!!!! It might not get you to be thin but it can keep you from becoming so large you can't leave the house for five years. Some people just CANNOT be thin. Because society idealizes the ultra-thin, these people just give up. My diet and exercise blog: http://itsafatlife.blogspot.com... |
