Why is obesity so widely accepted in America?

When I was growing up, I am now 30 years old, we looked at fat people as being odd, not taking care of themselves, and weak. Nowadays, even fat kids seem to be the norm, and I see parents feeding them sweets, non stop.

Because since there are so many of them, it isn't considered odd. There is so much food around Americans: Mc Donald's, Taco Bell, Burger King, etc.,...Americans think that all foods have to be deep fried. I, on the other hand think it is DISGUSTING to see these fat asses in their bathing suits with their jiggling bellies at Six Flags and such eating FRIED DOUGH AND FUNNEL CAKES!
the majority rules in this case ( and why would a self indulgent pampered generation want any less for their kids ? ) ( sad to say it's my generation even tho i don't qualify for the obese label )
I take very good care of myself and others, I'm not weak, and I'm not odd. Get to know some fat people before you judge them.
because its common to see more obese ppl dan ppl in shape
It is not. Am I the only one who sees all these commercials on how to loose weight and all these open gyms?
Since more people are fat, and getting fat or fatter it is more accepted because more people are that way.
Before you sit and judge anyone in this world - please don't think that overweight people sit and condemn you for being skinny. This is such a infuriating post!!!! I am overweight - four children later - I used to be skinny - I don't regret my children for one second and the choices I have made in my life affect me - not anyone else. I am not happy with myself at times - but I don't think anyone is ever satisfied with everything in their life. I don't sit and do nothing - I work - I work very hard - shower daily - that is such bulls**t because of what you see - why not take in the whole picture - while everyone is vying for attention no matter what shape they are there are people in this world who have more important things in life to worry about -
