Is depression and obesity related?

i have a high stress job, and a a family life that can be anything but relaxing most of the time.
both give me a depression. and consequently i eat like there will be no 2moro. at ny given point of time, the docs want me to loose at least 10kgs of weight.
however, whn i m slightly relaxed, i start working out. but one more office stress, one more fight at home, and i m back to eating with a vengence.
u think there can be a solution???

depression & obesity is somewhat related coz over-eating almost always becomes an excuse or an escape to forgetfulness. it doesnt mean 'though that when you're depressed, you have the tendency to become obese. obesity is a genetic disorder which is magnified by the junks you eat. I also tend to get fat, wanna know what i do to refrain from eating excessive junks? i create my own diversion... i play computer games, play chess with my niece, attend to my orchids or just sweep the yard. you can do everything and anything but eat junks. think positive and happy thoughts. pray! I would say yes. And if you lose weight then you would be less likely to be depressed. Also take control of your life and when you stray away from what is good for you don't get down on yourself just keep trying to aways do better. Sooner or later you will be doing more of the good things then the bad and with that you will see the fruits of your labor. Also be and stay positive And never give up or give in Remember nothing good ever came easy. And when thing things are not going so well remember nobody got anywhere or anything done by panicking. So have a plan and stay positive and remember perseverance pays off.
by the way you describe your life, you are way too stressed and feel way too bad about yourself- two causes of depression. i think you should go on a holiday for NO REASON by yourself... a nice pampering one that will make you feel good about yourself and relaxed. when you arrive back home, try to eat protein- rich foods that will keep you full for longer, and make sure everything else you eat is healthy. counselling is another suggestion, as your way of dealing with the stresses of life is eating, and a professional counsellor can fix that compulsive eating.
I am not a doctor and do not have any medical qualifications but have had to search for answers to my medical condition as the doctors haven't been able to come up with any answers. You might want to ask your doctor to do a blood test to check your Cortisol level. It's done at 9 am as this is the time that our body releases it most. Stress effects your metabolic rate too. You might also want to check your tongue and if there is any discolouration or swelling, point that out to your doctor if it is there. And finally, is your digestive system working ok? I thought mine was fine until I collapsed in agony and they discovered a bowel blockage that had been there for at least a year. Good luck!

where there is a will there's a way.

try your best to strighten things out with your family, maybe some family counseling if its that serious. what's most important is your health and if you dont fight your weight problem now it can lead to many more problems in the future. you should maybe look into another line of work or another company if you can't find a way to make ur current job less stressful
