Does our society promote obesity? |
I'm interested in people's opinion. We live in a society with fast foods everywhere, we celebrate everything with food, and we don.t necessarily know how to watch what we eat. On top of all this . . .we are inactive. We are getting lazier every year. Machines do what we used to do physically. What do you think? You're right....fast food is everywhere. America is in a hurry all the time..we want it quick, and we want it now. So when that happens, we don't make the best food choices. But even if America ate better, exercise is still essential. 30 minutes a day isn't much at all. And for some reason, people seem to think that you have to go to the gym to get a workout--which is probably why most people don't. yes, I think that we as a society are celebrating the fact that we are obese. We have even said that they find nothing wrong with their weight. I think that as along as your are healthy and excerise then you weight should not matter. I mean you do not see the woman who is too big to get out of her house celebrating, or the man who has had his fourth heart attack celebrating. We should put some control on our eating habits yea, they promote it with the availability of crappy food in large inhuman portions(big gulp, super size etc), but then in the media they portray the optimal shape as slim and trim. A real dichotomy! I run 3 miles everyday. I'm vegetarian. Healthy as a horse! Thin and fit, a perfect size 6. Almost b\never eat fast food because it's mostly meat dishes...and I'm only lazy on a rainy Sunday morning. Obesity is about peoples' horrendous habits, and inability to take care of themselves or love themselves. Why else would you stuff your face and body until it's like an exploding sausage in clothes? Discipline. Exercise. Other interests besides what's for dinner? I stay active and almost forget to eat! Unless you have a biological disposition for obesity, which does exist; I think it's about individual choices make you fat. That's the only Reason. ps. When my parents were growing up, and people worked mad harder than now, no one was fat. My mom says they all worked too hard. So maybe, hard work would help too? YES!!! Let's not forget the business community's contribution, it seems every other commercial on TV is for food, their whole business model is built on getting you to buy more food and they've succeeded!! except that if someone tries to eat all that food they end up looking like us. Heck yeah!! we do... And it also has to do with out culture... Como boricuas nosotros selebramos hasa los muertos con comida lmao. You get sick and your mom wants to feed you... if your skinny then your sick lol so yeah like i said it has to do alot with out culture. |
