Does Britain has highest obesity rate in Europe?

Does Britain has highest obesity rate in Europe?

It is one of the highest in the world...21% of women and 17% of men in Britain are obese and a further 32% of women and 46% of men are overweight. This means that most people in England (58%) are now either fat or obese. Compared to the US, 31% are obese and 65% are either fat or obese.

Obesity has reached epidemic proportions globally, with more than 1 billion adults overweight--at least 300 million of them clinically obese--and is a major contributor to the global burden of chronic disease and disability. Often coexisting in developing countries, obesity is a complex condition, with serious social and psychological dimensions, affecting virtually all ages and socioeconomic groups.

Obesity rates have risen three-fold or more since 1980. Current obesity levels range from below 5% in Japan to over 75% in urban Samoa. Source(s): WHO: A BMI over 25 (kg/m2) is defined as overweight, and a BMI of over 30 (kg/m2) as obese.

Yes- 24% of Brits are considered obese. The next closest is 12% in Ireland, Germany, and Spain. I just read about this about 1/2 an hour ago.

no, that honor goes to the germans
Apparently the study on obesity study from IOTA says so but the 'Eurobesity' project includes Norwegian males at 50.4 bmi 1997 and Portuguese women at 40 bmi. Greek women at 42 bmi a restricted group though.

Besides, all the data in http://www.iotf.org/media/eubmitable.htm... is not all up to date they really don't know. What the press office Does recognise is that we're getting much too much good Sunday roasts and junk food from vending machines, and need to do something about it. Personally those machines swallow squids whole and there is never a repair man when you need one. As to all this, I say let's hit JDs for babs on weekends and work it off at Ministry of Sound or something.
