Why can you believe that obesity was not a common Roman health problem?

Obesity is a modern concern. While medicine and medical efforts existed back in the Roman days, the more you weighed, the higher on the social order you probably were. Plus, if you look at statistics these days, we are getting fatter faster. Obesity was not nearly a problem even 20-30 years ago. And as a side note, the Romans didn't have junk food and cars and machines. Poeple walked, did their work by hand and generally ate "organic" foods
