Is there any excuse for obesity?

I notice that in areas of the country where people exercize more ,for example near the ski mountains, there seems to be much fewer people with "gland problems" or a "fat genes". I also notice that there are far fewer people with these "medical conditions" in foreign countries where they eat healthier and in more moderate amounts.

Yes, There is a rare condition where the food intake is not converted to usable energy and is immediately turned into fat. These people can eat an enormous amount of food and actually become malnourished. The sad fact is most of them die very very early as they can not consume enough to maintain life and even being fat they "in essence starve to death"

Also, even though I am not obese I do know some people that are. Not one of them set out in life with the goal of becoming this way.
What you are doing when you insult, laugh at, make fun of, or any other form of degrading remark, is to hurt them.

That's it, you are hurting people whom you may or may not know for something that they have little to no control over.

Do you feel proud, strong, manly, when you say things like this?

You see, either it is a psychological addiction, or a genetic predisposition or a rare medical condition, Not one of these people started life wanting to be obese.

About the areas where people live... You simply have it backwards. People who are heavy do NOT go to the places where others who can ski, and be more active go.

The other countries it is exactly that, they don't have it to eat, and not that the problem would not exist if they had a lot of food.

Imagine this, You have an addiction. (ANY ONE ) you choose. Then you make it so you have to get some of that 3 times a day to survive. Just like you would for food. And you also have it advertised all over and you have to go shopping for it. Etc. Food addiction has to be incredibly hard to beat because everywhere you go there is food.I have my doubts.
Well, obesity and other eating disorders have been labeled as a psychological problem. However, there is also the contribution of the society that we live in and the fact that we are living in sich a fast paced world that no one has time to eat properly any more...
