What's the definition of obesity?

There must be at least one standard. Is it a Body Mass Index of 30?

Yes, BMI of 30 would be obese.

However, some olympic athletes might have a BMI of 30 and they are certainly NOT obese!

Better to go by body fat percentage. Obese for a male is 30%+ body fat and 38%+ body fat is obese for a female.
