What can society do about teenage obesity? |
Any solutions to teenage obesity would help. (Its for a research paper) Education is one of the biggest factors. When I was in school, we did have "health" classes, but there wasn't much good information on nutrition and physical fitness. Also, the junk they serve in schools these days is horrendous and really inexcusable, I don't care how cheap it is. If the kids don't have a choice but to have healthy foods at lunch, then that's what they'll eat. And as mentioned above, replacing vending and soda machines with healthier alternatives would go a long way - of course the kid will choose a snickers bar or pop tart over an orange or banana any day, if they're given the choice. Parents probably play the biggest role in how children perceive nutrition and fitness. Parents who are obese and have bad habits will generally raise kids that way. Parents should lead by example and make healthy living a priority. Other than that, there's not much else we can do. People are ultimately free to do whatever they want to, and that includes polluting their bodies. healthier vending machines at school and healthier lunches in the cafeteria get rid of vending machines in school or put healthier stuff into and maybe the parents should be more strict on eating healthy fast food is good but only occassionally Im not so sure that society could fix this problem.....its the individuals responsibility, or in the case of children it is the parents responsibility to make sure that they are eating healthy. A big problem with obesity is junk food and soda and Super size fries at mcdonalds and all that other fast food crap that is really bad for you....but it tastes so darn good lol promote physical education classes get rid of pop vending machines instead of chips and chocolates, provide something healthier on the vending machines like small pack of cereals, etc healthier lunch options lower the price range for healthier meals uhm. i guess just warn people about the harmful side affects of obesity. like for example once you reach a certian point of fat, your heart starts beating harder because your artieries get clogged. It beats so hard it hits your back and you eventually die. Another thing to do is find a motivation. I woke up one morning feeling fat. and i said "this is the day im gonna loose weight" I lost 15 pounds! im a 14 yr old female. |
