Can legislation solve the problem of obesity? |
For example---Do you think our government should stop subsidizing corn? Maybe stop the sponsorship of feeding our kids processed foods in school cafeterias? (Government cheese, mystery meat, etc...)Do you think this problem is big enough to attack politically? What do you think should be done, if anything? Nooooo Only responsible parenting can solve this problem. The government can help by offering nutritious meals at lunch but this will never happen because of the lobbyists for the junk food. NO THEY RATHER SPEND ALL THE MONEY ON WARS RATHER THAN TAKE CARE OF THE PEOPLE WHO LIVE HERE IN AMERICA. People need to make personal choices. If they choose to do things that make them obese, then more power to them. Just because we don't like it, doesn't mean certain obese people would change their habits. Also, we should increase subsidizing vegetables ;-) government intervention is not the answer to personal responsibility. teach kids how to eat well and they will know. do you want to end subsidies and school lunches or pass laws to protect people from themselves? i answered your first and last question. the government can't get out of the food business. Yes, the government could stop it. But we sure as hell don't want them to take that much control of our lives. The government is already making changes by banning the use of transfat in many food chains and products! Alot of people will say this is wrong and government doesn't have a right to make these changes but I think it is a good idea! yes, i think the govt could give subsidies to gyms and poeple who start gyms. a tax credit for people who join..... the govt could also call for a phasing out of trans fats in fast foods |
