Are we more concerned about anorexia than obesity because? |
rich, pretty little white girls get those diseases? Obesity is 100,000 times more serious a health issue in America. Is this more like a "you don't like rich, pretty little white girls" issue? The biggest thing in the US right now is how more and more people are becoming obese. There are a few celebs that have dropped a tremendous amount of weight and have been scrutinized in the media for it, but the main health issue regarding weight in America is obesity. Bariatric treatments in the US over the past 10 years has nearly tripled. well the rich little white girls are worth more than fat ugly girls. yes, that's probably a major factor- obese people aren't in the spotlight as much as anorexic people are so it's not seen as often Because everybody likes skinny people better than fat people..... I think we need to be concerned about both "diseases" and it seems like people have only recenlty started taking obesity seriously. Let me tell you, I am not a "McDonald's type of person, I have always taught my son good eating habits, he might have McDonald's five times a year, if even that. Well anyway, a few weeks ago we went to McDonald's because he wanted to play on the "play area", we had already had dinner and we figured we would just have desert (fruit & yogurt parfaits) and he could play in the "play area". I was SHOCKED to see how MANY CHILDREN & families were eating their dinner at McDonald's, it wasn't a weekend, I think it was a Tuesday, an ordiniary weekday, in the time we were there-maybe 30 minutes of playing...I saw what seemed like HUNDREDS of families come in & out ordering that greasy high fat food for their children for dinner, it was disgusting, but at least I realized why so many children are obese these days, because their parents are lazy & don't seem to care. Eating disorders are eating disorders. Regardless of whether it's not eating, binge eating, or purging after eating...it's and eating disorder that robs the body of proper nutrients and "fuel". Obesity is addressed much more than anorexia. Do you see any pictures of overweight women in mainstream magazines and high end fashion mags? Nope. but you do see very skinny women. I don't know where you are that anorexia is more of a concern. It should be equal concern of all eating disorders, and the cause of which can vary, but mostly come down to the CONTROL. Anorexic women control food by not eating, overweight/bingers control food by eating lots and lots and using it to comfort. There is the same root issue there. can't they be poor pretty little white girls? and why do they have to be white? - just trying to make a point. |
