What is the difference between overweight and obesity?

Simply put, overweight is still considered normal while obesity is a pathological state. A frequently used criterion is the Body Mass Index (mass in kgr divided by (height in meters, squared) : mass/(height^2).

Typically, a BMI (body mass index) between 25-30 is considered overweight, while 30+ is obese. Source(s): http://www.cdc.gov/nccdphp/dnpa/bmi/...
