What is the mortality and morbility due to obesity? "According to the National Institutes of Health, obesity and overweight together are the second leading cause of preventable death in the United States, close behind tobacco use. An estimated 300,000 deaths per year are due to the obesity epidemic." (source below) I know being fat increases your risk of Alzheimer's, heart disease, kidney disease, diabetes, joint problems, gall bladder problems and more. As an obese person, I can tell you that every part of my body is strained and unhappy with this weight. And it's not a question of "just don't eat"--I'm not an overeater. In fact, I drink slim-fast for 10 out of my 19 meals per week, I work out 4 hours a week and I'm on diet pills. What else would you have me do? Source(s): http://www.wvdhhr.org/bph/oehp/obesity/m... my diet and exercise blog: http://itsafatlife.blogspot.com... some people only live in their 30's, those are the morbidly obese. it also kills their self esteem, i have a cousin who is obese and she is 17 and she doesn't know how to talk to people, she always hangs hear head down and she is very unsocial. it is a very sad situation for their health and their mental well being. |
